OCD, Phobias and Anxiety

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is frequently misunderstood and underdiagnosed as well as being one of the most distressing conditions to live with. For many, it takes years to get an accurate diagnosis while suffering with all the “what ifs” or “why do I have this thought” and traditional talk therapy can feel like “it’s just not helping” or even makes things worse. Obsessions can focus on anything that is important to you: relationships, health, cleanliness, safety, religion, morality or a feeling that things just aren’t ‘right’. OCD can also take the form of extremely embarrassing, disgusting or harmful thoughts or images that keep many locked in shame and feeling unable to speak up, even to professionals. If you have been wondering about thoughts that you just can’t get out of your head, it is never too late to reach out. Exposure and Response Prevention is the gold standard of treatment and is very effective in bringing relief.

Trauma

The effects of trauma can ripple far from the initial experience, causing disturbances in many aspects of life often over many years. Your trauma belongs to you and how you wish to treat it is a personal decision. Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidenced based treatment for trauma that does not require reliving traumatic memories and is manualized through writing exercises with a CBT framework. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a technique modeled after EMDR that shows promise in finding relief from painful memories. ADHD

Trying to cope with a neurotypical world with a neurodivergent brain can be tough. While you cannot change your brain, you can address and challenge the anxiety, guilt and shame that may arise along the way. Especially for people who are late diagnosed or only suspecting of neurodivergence, these feelings of insecurity can stem from some deeply held, long term beliefs. Through CBT and ACT, you can focus on practical skills as well as the emotional work of accepting who you are.

Depression

Depression symptoms can be overwhelming whether it is something new or a condition that recurs throughout life. Therapy can provide the support to access more helpful thinking styles and problem solve the behaviors that are keeping you stuck. There are a variety of evidence-based techniques from traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Activation and Somatic/Polyvagal Therapeutic techniques that can assist in finding greater wellbeing in your day-to-day life.

Adjustment and Grief

Change is part of life but that doesn’t make it easy. It is possible to struggle even if you generally consider the big change to be a good thing. It can be especially hard to adapt after an important loss. Temporary support for life stress or grief can be just what you need to get back on your feet. You do not have to go through it alone.

General Wellbeing

Even if you feel like everything is going fine in life, it can still be beneficial to talk things through with an objective listener or to brush up on and maintain skills learned in previous therapeutic work. Life is an ever-evolving masterpiece and therapy can help explore more ways to thrive.

Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP)

Research has shown that this substance can be both safe and very helpful as an adjunct to therapy, especially when it seems that all other medications have failed. It acts to increase neuroplasticity of brain neurons to foster new connections and accelerate change. This method is used in partnership with experienced physicians and controlled administration of Ketamine in the comfort of your own home. Contact us to find out if this treatment is right for you.
